ISP Review: Juno High Speed ISP

Juno combines its value-priced Juno Platinum Internet access service with advanced technology to make dialup go faster. Sounds like a plan!

Like NetZero High Speed, Juno High Speed uses ISP technology that I don't understand to compress and optimize your online surfing experience. The result is that you can surf many Web pages up to five times faster.

That's pretty close to the speeds you get with a DSL ISP -- at a fraction of the cost. That's right... you can basically get broadband Internet service speeds from a dialup modem.

You're also saving money because you don't have to pay for a bunch of features you don't want. Remember, Juno is a "no-frills" Internet access provider, so it doesn't give you add-ons like online content, downloads, or tons of email addresses. Depending on your point of view, that may or may not be a good thing.

One good thing you do get is a pop-up blocker, which makes surfing the Web slightly even more faster. You also get no ads at all, which is a step up from Juno Platinum.

Juno High Speed takes the best of a DSL Internet Service Provider and combines it with the value of a dialup ISP. I'm a fan. You can browse extremely fast, at speeds that are similar to those of broadband Internet access, for far less money.

As with Juno's other services, Juno High Speed isn't meant for folks who like getting tons of free add-ons, who want to be a part of an online community like America Online, or who want multiple email addresses. Instead, it's for Internet users who know what they want online, and who want an Internet Service Provider that doesn't beat around the bush. Juno gives you fast Internet access without all the extras that could cost more -- and in the end, that spells value to me.

On the other hand, if you are looking for personal home pages, exclusive online magazines or music, or special downloads for your computer, you should probably consider one of the other services out there.
